Program Intern -
summer/fall/winter/spring terms
Reports to: Program Director Compensation: $500 monthly stipend and
lodgings Application Deadline:
Positions available year round for all semesters
including summer.
General Responsibility: responsible for
assisting with various duties for camp programs,
including assistance with program development, camper
and staff recruitment, staff training and supervision,
managing paperwork and applications and direct
management and/or direct provision of Aspen Camp
programs. Other responsibilities might include
performing duties in the office, kitchen, challenge
course, and general program activities.
Specific Responsibilities: Program Interns can be called upon to perform the
following tasks:

assume responsibilities for supervision of campers |
 |
help plan and lead recreational activities |
 |
-plan and lead a sign language class |
 |
assist and/or teach assigned activities |
 |
develop and/or follow activity plans reflecting AC
program guidelines |
 |
supervise other staff members in selected program areas
as assigned |
 |
team with other staff to provide safe and effective
cooperation games |
 |
assist in facilitation of challenge course
|
 |
write and evaluate assigned camp program activity plans |
 |
oversee
the health and personal hygiene of the
campers |
 |
follow all state and camp safety rules |
 |
enforce camp rules and use positive reinforcement |
 |
help with assigned meal or general camp clean-up

Office Intern
- summer/fall/winter/spring terms
Responsible to: Camp
Director
General Responsibility: Develop and execute
marketing programs, support new and existing
recreational camp programs, assist with donor management
including database development and fund-raising
activities, perform administrative office tasks,
interpret for hearing impaired campers/visitors, manage
work weekend volunteers and perform special requests
from the Executive Director and Office Manager.
Experience in office procedures (ie filing, answering
telephones, photocopying, meeting the public, and
problem solving skills). Computer experience with MS
Windows software, database entry and word processing.
Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks in hectic
environment.
This position is for someone who wants to learn how to
support a busy wilderness camp organization from behind
the scenes. The position combines a little of
everything, but it's focus is on getting key data into
files that allow it to have an immediate impact on our
ability to reach out to our students and community, as
well as fulfill our mission in a fun and rewarding way.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required
College level courses or BA preferred
Minimum of 21 years of age preferred
Mature, capable, caring person
Desire and ability to work with Deaf and Hard of Hearing
children
Desire to live and work in the camp community
Advanced receptive and expressive sign language skills
and willing to learn/use various modes of communicating
with Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals
Ability to relate effectively with the campers, parents,
volunteers, staff, Board of Trustees, and donors
Good character, integrity, and adaptability
Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control
Ability to accept guidance and supervision from, and
work with others
Good health indicated by required AC physical evaluation
(ability to fulfill job responsibilities)
Prove free of illegal drug usage through pre-employment
5 panel urine drug screening
Pass all required background checks required by the
State of Colorado
