In December, Aspen Camp welcomed a new member to the team. Amy Lapham, from New York, took over as Program Director to ensure programs are being carried out with the highest quality and utmost safety.
Katie Murch, the Marketing and Strategic Director, said, “We are so excited to have someone take over and focus on programs again. The experiences and ethics Amy brings will definitely enhance the experience our staff and customers get. Amy adds, “I am very excited to be at Aspen Camp. I look forward to meeting everyone, past and new!”
Even more meaningful is that since Amy is Deaf* as well, the campers will have yet another great role model to look up to.”
When Zack Sisson was promoted to the Facilities Director position, it created an urgent need to fill the Office Leader position. Fortunately, the universe agreed with Aspen Camp’s strategy and brought Christine Ellis to the team.
Hailing from California, Christine brings administrative, people, and human resource skills to the team. She says, “The position as well as the camp’s philosophy is in tune with my life’s path!” She is also the first dedicated volunteer coordinator for Aspen Camp in recent years. Since Christine is also Deaf, our campers have another role model to look up to.
The quick growth of Aspen Camp in recent years saw a need for a highly qualified Development Director to bring in more funds to support the demands that the camp meets. Luckily, the perfect candidate lived just a few miles away in Carbondale. Carol Fabian found out about the position on-line and knew she had to jump on the opportunity. She adds, “I am excited to be part of such a wonderful organization and am looking forward to sharing Aspen Camp’s story.”
As the Development Director, Carol’s focus is to build upon the rich relationships Aspen Camp has with their contributors. Aspen Camp is moving towards its vision of a new, Deaf-centered campus as well as expanding programs and services. “In order for us to do bigger and more meaningful things, we need bigger support and more resources. Carol is just the person to help us get there,” said Dr. Lesa Thomas, Executive Director.
Last, but not least, Aspen Camp also recently welcomed James Maguire as the camp’s part-time accountant. James originated from Pennsylvania and has lived in Carbondale since 2001. Practicing accounting for almost 20 years, his expertise will help manage Aspen Camp’s financial growth. James adds, “I am grateful to be able to merge my career and desire to help others through my work at Aspen Camp.”
“We are excited about the growing demands for our services as it shows that we are on the right path to make a difference in today’s world. Having a qualified team will help us accomplish bigger and better things. We’re looking forward to the future,” commented Dr. Thomas.
